The plains swirled around them, a silvery ocean of plants marred by the rare island of trees. They were the sea creatures, often pursueing their prey through the vast ocean before them, their heads peering out above the waters surface. Though today, they were not pursueing anything, they were one today, just racing through the plains to the farthest edges of the sunset, trying to run as far away from camp without losing the flags hanging from the tops of the center poles.
The two leapt together over a small stream winding through the plains, startling a grouping of deer-like creatures in their pursuit of the sun. The long-legged pa'li and his makto were aprroaching the edge of their race quickly, the sun was disapeering and so was their camp's flag. Suddenly the halted, the stallion rearing up at his makto's commands, allowing his rider to peer at the flag in the distance. They were several hoofbeats away from camp, a days walk or, by pa'li, an hours ride.
They turned and began their way back to camp, pausing at the stream for a drink. The na'vi male dismounted from his pa'li, stooping into the water for a quick dip. The water felt good against his darkly tanned skin, and caused him to shiver as he splashed it upon his scarred chest and arm. His pa'li called to him after it drank its fill and scratched the ground with its hoof impatiently. Slowly he approached it, bonding with it and then mounting, the creature trotting forward of its own accord.
They neared camp slowly, the night falling around them and cooler breezes causing the grasses to wave elegantly. They slowed down into a walk, both wanting to simply relax and enjoy the quiet around them. The light from the heavens above cast them in a green-blue glow and the plants below stained their under bellies with a white light.
