Raelyn Fearn is a bit on the taller side for a female of Celtic descent. Her body is slim and curvy, yet fit with muscle definition in her arms and slight muscle definition in her abdomen. Her breasts are about the size of a large B, smaller C. Her skin is a creamy white, and she burns rather easily. Her eyes have an almond shape to them and her nose is small, but turned slightly upwards, while her lips are full with the top being a bit thinner than the bottom one.
Her Avatar is used mainly for research outside on Pandora, and looks quite similar to her. The skin remains the same light blue with darker blue stripes and glowing dots throughout the body that swirl into sharp angles. Her hair is black, but long and straight, coming down to the middle of her back. Usually like her human self, her Avatar self has her hair pulled back into a ponytail or French braid when outside. The eyes remain an amber gold, but with more brown surrounding the pupil. The Avatar body is tall, around 9’6”, and slender yet muscular like the Na’vi. Her Avatar wears a dark red tank top with brown khaki shorts and brown combat boots. Sometimes she wears a brown khaki jacket as well, and often carries around a backpack filled with research equipment and notes.
Ears: Her ears are pierced, with three holes in each ear, and each hole holding a colorful stud; blue, pink, and green.
Hair: Her hair is a dark brown, almost black, that flows down to the middle of her back in curly, wavy rivulets. She tends to pull her hair back into a ponytail when she is working in the lab or outside working in the field, or pulls it back into a tight French braid.
Clothing: She likes casual wear in the sense of blue jeans and tank tops or t-shirts. She likes bright colors in her tops, mostly bright pinks, reds, purples, and greens. When not in lab attire; sometimes scrubs with a lab coat, she wears a pair of blue jeans with flared bottoms, and either a tank top or t-shirt in a bright color. On occasion she’ll wear shorts out into the field if it gets too hot. Outside she wears a pair of black combat boots while inside she prefers a pair of blue sneakers with black laces. She often wears a necklace with a Celtic knot for the pendant that’s connected to a rainbow moonstone given to her by her mother. She wears a silver cuff bracelet on her left wrist that has inscribed Celtic trinity knots all around it with a cherry red opal sitting in the center of the bracelet on top.
Background: Growing up in Wales, Raelyn’s family struggled to survive. With the land slowly becoming a veritable wasteland, and disease spreading rapidly throughout the people, there wasn’t much work to be found minus simple repetitive tasks whether it be factory work or something worse. Despite the hardships, Raelyn’s mother tried to keep things good for her children. She worked endless hours in a local factory while her father looked for jobs at the local businesses around town. What he could find, he took in a heartbeat.
During their time of turmoil, Raelyn continued to attend school like any normal child. She did have to wear a medical mask to keep the disease from reaching her, but scientists didn’t know whether or not that would do any good for anyone. Regardless, she took the normal slew of courses offered at her school, choosing any extra ones she could find in the field of science. There wasn’t much she had to choose from, but anything was better than thinking of what was happening in the world around her.
As she grew older, preparing to enter college, the world seemed to collapse in upon itself. If it was as bad as it was in Wales, she could only imagine how bad it was everywhere else. With what little money they had, Raelyn and her family took a flight into the United States upon hearing rumors that there were ships heading to Pandora for those left surviving on Earth. It seemed like a Godsend to her that such a miracle could happen for her and her family. Unfortunately, not everything was as Raelyn would like it to be.
The rumor they heard of ships leaving for Pandora was true, but it seemed the plan had been stalled on account of money issues from the government, and the overcrowding of people from all over the world trying to leave for Pandora. Consequently, it seemed they were stuck for the time being on Earth until everything could be fixed. In the meantime, Raelyn attended a local university that offered her the degree she had been looking for. Being relatively poor, she had to take out rather large loans for the degree in Biology with a major in Zoology that she wanted. Regardless, she was just happy to be doing something she loved, and forgetting the world outside.
Time had passed by quickly, and within six years, Raelyn had earned the degree she had wanted in time to hear that the ships were leaving because Earth was officially announced as dead. It seemed that the government had been funded the money through private company owners all over America who obviously wanted very much to leave Earth. The United States wasn’t the only country that had ships leaving, but they did have the man power, the money, and the biggest ships to accommodate more people should the need arise.
Of course, Raelyn’s family jumped at the chance to leave, taking with them the disease they had tried so hard to keep away. Six years the disease lay dormant in Raelyn’s parents’ bodies, only surfacing once they reached Pandora. It was during routine maintenance around the colony compound that she saw the tremors in her mother and father’s bodies. Shock was the immediate reaction, followed by the quarantining of her parents by the colony doctors. The only way for Raelyn to visit them was to put on a biohazard suit each day she entered their room. To watch them slowly suffer, knowing they were dying day by day was more than Raelyn could bear. All she could do was comfort them, crying silently when she was alone until the day they finally passed on. What made it worse was the day her sister finally succumbed to the disease as well, dying from a painful death. Raelyn mourned for days holed up in her room, unwilling to work, to eat, to do much of anything really. All she could think of was that somehow she was at fault for their deaths being that she never encountered the disease. She was the lucky one who lived.
Eventually a friend she had made at the compound intervened, explaining how her family wouldn’t want her to live like this. That all their suffering would be for nothing if she kept on like this. Putting her guilt behind her, Raelyn took what her friend had said to heart, and vowed to live for her family. Everything she did through research and helping others would be for her family to make them proud, and to not let their dying breaths be in vain.
Family: Father – Ambros Fearn (Deceased)
Mother – Kerianne Fearn (Deceased)
Sister – Teagan Fearn (Deceased)
Personality: Raelyn is a kind and caring person. She’s usually very happy with those she works with and in what she does, but if her buttons are pushed past the breaking point, she can snap at a moment’s notice. Despite the success she’s been having on Pandora career wise, she still feels a large amount of guilt for being the only one out of her family who survived the disease X7Y9. She still thinks a lot about them, and prays that they are happy and safe wherever that may be. Her guilt often transfers over into her work with the animals as well as the colonists on Pandora. If she can help someone, anyone from Na’vi to human, she’ll do it in a heartbeat. Despite her feelings, she finds that music as well as exercise helps to alleviate her pain.
Abilities: She excels obviously in the field of biology and zoology thanks to her degree. She also speaks a bit of Na’vi. She’s able to hold a conversation with other Na’vi, though she doesn’t know every word in the language, and can often stumble on what to say. She can be a great leader if given the chance, mainly in the research lab. She can also use a gun thanks to the bit of target practice she was able to receive on Pandora as well as some self defense lessons.
Strengths: Her knowledge of animals and biology in general is vast thanks to her degree. Her ability to protect herself with a gun or hand to hand combat is good thanks to the training she received from the defense lessons on Pandora. Her compassionate heart towards those on Pandora; human and Na’vi alike.
Weaknesses: She doesn’t speak Na’vi perfectly, and consequently, she ends up making a fool of herself by saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. She has a weakness for animals. If she finds they’re hurt, in danger, or just need help, she’ll risk her life to help them. She tends to take teasing gestures the wrong way, and winds up snapping at people due to the temper she has.
