Physical Description:
Zera’que is a lean woman, with long lanky limbs that often hide that good bit of strength she has. Her skin is a pale blue with dark navy stripes that swirl around in a lazy, delicate pattern. She is mentally capable of anything, but is often a little on the fragile side health wise. Though she is rarely seen outside of the Txampay’awkx’s home, she is often around others within camp, wearing her tanish-white loincloth and the various white beaded and vividly colored feathered necklaces that encircle her throat and cover her breasts. Her hair is thick and every strand is braided with a white or blue bead adorning its end. She wears a crown of fresh flowers either she or one of the smaller children braid for her. The colors of the crown vary from time to time, but are almost always pinkish in color. She wears a braided cord around the base of her tail like most of her clan, only hers is a skin tanned a pale tan, almost white.
Background: Zera’que’s father died on a hunting trip at almost the same hour that her first cries began. Her mother mourned as she held her new child in her arms and many of the people claimed that the babe was cursed. The Tshiak spoke to her mother claiming Eywa had made Zera’que a different child from the rest for a purpose, and that her father's death was for that purpose. She also claimed that Zera’que would run amoungst the creatures of the forest and become one of the people earlier than the others. Her mother simply nodded to the Tshaik and took her pale-skinned and wide-eyed daughter back to her home.
Zera’que grew up a strange girl. She never played with the other children as one might expect. She stood amoungst the elders and listened to their stories intently, and followed her mother everywhere. She watched her mother gather herbs and things for medicine and wrote these things into her memories. Once on these trips she and her mother came across a nantang caught in the vines of a tree and her mother began to pull her away, but curious little Zera’que pulled out of her grasp and walked closer. The nantang growled at her for a moment, but then quieted as Zera’que released it from its trap. The nantang stared at her for a moment and then scampered away into the forest. Her mother told her to never speak of such again and to never do such again. Zera’que agreed, but always visited the forest and ran amoungst its fauna.
As she grew older, Zera’que went through her tests earlier than the other children because of her skill with hand-held weapons and knowledge of wildlife. She soon claimed her own ikran, which she named Ja'li. Soon her last test came and she captured her Kali'weya for the ceremony. She ran through the spirit world and watched and waited for her spirit creature to come to her. It took a long while, but finally a nantang appeared to her and told her to return. She did not understand why Eywa had chosen this to be her spirit animal, but she returned to the world. She awoke to tell her mother the news only to find out that her mother had committed suicide while she lay in the spirit world. The Tshiak spoke to her and told her that her mother had been lying in sorrow for many years since her fathers death and that she could not stand it anymore and leapt from the highest cliffs of their home before anyone could save her. Zera’que spent the rest of her day of celebration in sorrow. After her mother’s death, the young woman’s health began to falter and she could no longer leave camp for the risk of becoming a burden.
Zera’que has spent the rest of her life as a healer, helping others whilst her strange health prevented her from joining them in the forests. She often practiced making new and better medicines for her tribe and has now added many other wounds and sicknesses to the list of things that can be healed.
Abilities: Extremely talented when it comes to the making of medicines and the gathering of herbs. A decent hunter if called to do so, especially with a knife or staff, and a very silent stalker even with all her beaded necklaces and hair. She often will surprise fighting children with her sudden appearances.
Strengths:Very wise for her young age and is equal in doling out punishment and wisdom. She is patient and a very good listener, her eyes are always wide and open, begging for the other to continue, but filled with the emotions of one who plans to keep secrets as they are, secret. She is very optimistic and tries to give others, when their down and out, a positive outlook on their situation.
She welds a staff with skill almost unmatched at times and has laid many good warriors on their back. She rarely uses her staff anymore, but when called to do so, she will be ready.
Weaknesses:Can be very shy at times and is unable to easily trust others. When pushed into a corner, her shy nature changes into that of a caged animal and she will lash out. She tries to avoid such situations at all costs so she won’t ever have to reveal herself like that.
Zera’que’s sickness consists of asthma-like symptoms where she can barely breathe and must take special herbs to open up her throat again. The medicine however, takes a good bit of time to start working and would make her a liability on a hunt or raid. So, therefore, she stays home unless she is absolutely needed.
Another thing about Zera’que is that she believes that her clan should be more accepting of humans. She believes that her Omaticaya’s actions were very severe in the past and now in the present, and that he should not have been so strict and should not be so angry. She is afraid to speak about her beliefs to him or any others, so she just stays silent and weeps for the innocent humans.
