How long have you been active on this site? I built the site!
Character Name: Kilvan'mawey
Name meaning (if applicable): "Calm River"
Species: Na'vi
Clan: Omaticaya
Leadership Position Desired: Tsahik of the Omaticaya
Age: 78
Gender: Female
Eye color: White (is blind)
Hair color: Blue-black fading to silver-grey
Height: 8'6" (was 9'1" but is shrinking due to advanced age)
Weight: 205 lbs.
Physical Description: An extremely aged Na'vi female, Kilvan'mawey has shrunk a bit from her younger days due to old age and time. While Na'vi do age rather gracefully, and Kilvan'mawey is an example of this, she still sports many wrinkles and deep crows feet. Due to her age and position within the Clan, she sports some of the finest clothing, a white loincloth intricately covered in woven beads and a simple white cloth shawl (as she does feel the weather more in her advanced age and covers up more than most Na'vi do). Aside from those articles of clothing she doesn't wear much in the way jewelry saying it bothers her now, she only has saggy holes where her ears used to be stretched around large piercings, signs of when she was younger and as she puts it "more absorbed with myself". Occasionally she'll sport some bracelets and ankle-bracelets, but normally does without. Sometimes for festivals she has others put beads and feathers in her hair, but she usually just keeps it in long silver-gray braids. Her eyes are her most startling feature, the dead-white stare of the blind as she's been sightless since an accident as a child.
Background: Kilvan'mawey was born in the midst of a very hot summer to two average Na'vi parents who were survivors of the destruction of Hometree and the War of the Sky People. Thus she grew up in a melancholy time as the Omaticaya were literally picking up the pieces of their lives after the Sky People were driven from Pandora and many were sad that her generation were growing up without things such as Hometree and The Tree of Voices. Many feared the Sky People coming back, and often used them like boogymen to scare children like she when they were bad or disobedient. Kilvan'mawey had an average childhood aside from these facts, or at least as average as her parents could make it. During this time it was learned that she was a most excellent singer and picked up on the Story-songs of the Clan very quickly, learning them by heart.
However one day the world seemed so much dimmer than it had the day before... and the next week it was much dimmer... Her parents noticing that something was wrong with their normally happy daughter, they brought her to Neytiri (who was an aged Tsahìk herself at that time) as the great female Na'vi could only sadly shake her head and tell them that this was the Will of Eywa. Kilvan'mawey had a rare degenerative eye condition and nothing could be done as the little girl had to live with the fact each day brought her closer and closer to blindness until she saw nothing but total darkness. Saddened by this, Kilvan'mawey kept it to herself, continuing to be her usual cheerful, humorous self so that her parents wouldn't be so depressed about what had happened. Thus, she learned to keep her troubles to herself and worked hard on overcoming her impairment. Learning to see through touch, sound and smell, she picked up little odd quirks that helped make up for her lack of sight. She even learned to "see" through the Pa'li when she connected with them to ride - which was a wonderful relief to find out she could do that.
Eywa was not done with her yet as during her Uniltaron, she not only learned of her spirit animal, but also had a powerful vision and learned that she could "see" energy as hundreds of atokirina' swarmed around her and she saw them all as a river of blinking lights in the darkness. Telling this to the Tsahìk who succeeded Neytiri, the female took her as her apprentice instantly and helped the younger Kilvan'mawey work on using this new ability. Soon after she successfully completed her Iknimaya (that she wouldn't have been able to do without her new talent in 'energy seeing') and became a full-fledged member of the Clan. Soon afterward the Tsahìk who trained her died in a raid by a rogue group of Na'vi (who were quickly dealt with after that) and she became Tsahìk of the Omaticaya and has served the Clan tirelessly ever since.
Due to this, she is a very wise, old Na'vi who is quite out of her damn mind currently. She has an odd sense of humor and enjoys teasing the younger generations and often breaks with tradition. The Clan puts up with this as being "her way" due to the fact she is still Tsahìk, so old and highly respected. She has even outlived her mate who had been Olo'eyktan (currently a younger male now serves as Olo'eyktan) and even though it seems like she is still going strong, she is desperately looking for her successor to train as Eywa gave her a vision years ago to wait for a sign. Thus, she waits for this sign, but has yet to find it and she can feel the years upon her, her time to rejoin with Eywa is soon, thus she quietly worries to herself about this.
Abilities: Despite her blindness, she has very sharp hearing and sense of smell - something people seem to forget, or take one look and underestimate her and say something they shouldn't for which they get the backside of her tongue very quickly. Also she has been blessed by Eywa in that she can see the energy of living things, they appear like glowing lights to her in the darkness, little trails leading everywhere, thus she can see the neural-networks of the planet without being attached to it. This is something she has to concentrate on to see though, which at her age is like second-nature now. She is one of the few left in the Omaticaya who actually met JakeSully and Neytiri, but she was so young they are but legends to her as well. She also still speaks the Sky People's language as its become a requirement to become Tsahìk - just in case they came back - and they did.
Strengths: Is an excellent singer and knows every story-song by heart and loves to sing them often to anyone who would hear. Has sharp hearing and a heightened sense of smell and touch. Can see energy from other living things if she concentrates on them and uses it to get around - if she does it too much though and she'll get a headache.
Weaknesses: She is quite batty in her old age, the others in the Clan call it "being eccentric" when they're bring nice about it, but she has turned into a seemingly gibberish-speaking nut. Being old, she isn't as spry as she once was and cannot directly fight, although she wields her staff with surprising strength to bonk someone in the head with when they're being disrespectful. She does realize she is close to dying and is desperate to find "the sign" promised to her by Eywa in finding the next Tsahìk.
Plot Idea: Currently I have a plot going for Kilvan'mawey to try and find her replacement as she knows she is very old and her time is short. She is awaiting a vision/sign from Eywa for her to find "the one" that will become the next Tsahik. She is also looking for an Olo'eyktan who will be this future Tsahik's mate as well. If you're interested in getting something going with her on this front, please throw me a PM, or jump in with her in play!
